Christopher Hutchins’ bad day. aka Houston armed robbery gone wrong

Police believe the Hutchins was canvassing a neighborhood in the 2500 block of Wichita near Hermann Park had no idea what he was in for when he picked his target.

The victim in this case had just walked back to his car from a bar around the corner.

Kevin Dorsey says he hadn’t even closed his car door Thursday night when a man wearing all black and a ski mask put a gun to his chest. The man took Dorsey’s wallet, cell phone and car keys.

After he was robbed, Dorsey began running down the street and says two men in a Mercedes asked him what had happened.

Dorsey told them and they not only caught up with the suspect, but they started shooting at him.

The suspect fired back. In the end, the two witnesses turned vigilantes won and took down the bad guy.

“I don’t believe in guns,” said Dorsey. “I don’t own a gun. I’m totally at the mercy of my saviors. They obviously sent two angels to help me. These people protected me when I couldn’t protect myself.”

After the robber had been shot, police say he jumped over a fence and was attacked by a German Shepherd. That attack prevented him from getting away.

The suspect, identified as Christopher Hutchins, is being treated at Ben Taub Hospital. He’s expected to recover.

Several Wyoming lawmakers are proposing legislation designed to protect gun-owners from any potential federal firearm ban. The “Firearms Protection Act” bill, introduced this week, would make any federal law banning semi-automatic firearms or limiting the size of gun magazines unenforceable within the state’s boundaries.

Anyone trying to enforce a federal gun ban could face felony charges under the proposal. It also includes a provision allowing the Wyoming Attorney General’s office to defend any state resident against any federal firearm ban.

Autozone fires employee after he stopped armed robbery.

Jessup-” I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand a post. Either way, I don’t give a damn what you think you are entitled to.”

And then he fires your ass. Autozone, you just made the list…

It would appear saving your boss’ bacon from an armed robber won’t garner any special treatment, nor will it exempt you from being fired for violating store policy.

Devin McClean, an Air Force veteran, acted heroically when the “fake beard bandit” attempted an armed robbery at the Autozone store where he was working. Two days later the Asshats fired him for violating their “zero tolerance” policy against carrying a gun. Two days after the attempted robbery Mr. McClean was fired even though the local sheriff intends to award him with a Sheriff’s Citizens Accommodation Award for his actions at the Yorktown Va. store earlier this month.

Upon realizing the robbery attempt, McClean slipped out the back and retrieved his personal weapon from his truck, re-entered the store and confronted the robber who then fled. The same man is suspected in 30 other similar robberies.

So it’ll be a cold day in hell when the Autozone Asshats get another dime from me.

Concealed firearm trumps nutcase with car keys in road rage incident

WAUSAU, WI (WTAQ) – Supporters of Wisconsin’s concealed weapons law insist it will save lives – and that might have been the case during a road rage incident in Wausau.

It happened on Tuesday along the Highway 29 expressway.

Police said an 49-year-old Appleton man was driving into town from the west, when his SUV passed a van – and the van started ramming the SUV from behind. The Appleton man called 911, and a dispatcher told him to wait in a parking lot for an officer.

In the meantime, the attackers followed the man – and police said the couple got out and started beating him and stabbing him with their vehicle keys. The man pulled his concealed gun, and the two backed off.

( 30 year old Nicholas Flanagan and 26 year old Jessica Ratliff of Michigan were arrested on possible charges of battery and disorderly conduct. The Appleton man used his concealed carry weapon legally and will not be charged.)

Milwaukee police refuse to return gun used to thwart Aldi Robbery

Nazir Al-Mujaahid used a legal concealed weapon to stop an armed robbery of the ALDI store at N. 76th St. and W. Villard Ave on 01/30/2012. To date the police have yet to return his gun. The police have stated they are keeping the gun as evidence. The question of why they retain the weapon is being asked because the DA has decided to not charge Mr. Al-Mujaahid. If they retain the weapon in an investigation of wrongdoing it can be understood. In this case, with no charges pending and no investigation, the Milwaukee police are clearly infringing on the rights of a law abiding citizens right to keep bear arms.

No Concealed Carry Permit required…

Remember way back when Gov. Walker first got elected and the realization of concealed carry became a probability? Remember when the talk of no training requirements or permits was being bandied about? Remember those folks who thought what a crackpot idea it was and that we would be shunned for lack of these permits? If you were one of those naysayers this just may make your head explode….

12 states are proposing legislation to eliminate the concealed weapon permit requirement. Colorado, Iowa, Georgia, Kentucky, Maine, New Hampshire, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota and Virginia are all on the path to dropping the permit process.

Now that will probably make your head spin off if you were one of the “naysayers” who got all bent out of shape when it was proposed that way in Wisconsin. To those of us who are true 2nd amendment believers, well its just a vindication. Some of us out here in the “wild west” actually find it offensive to have to petition the government to allow us to protect ourselves. See that whole 2nd amendment thing was promulgated under the philosophy that the citizens have the God given right to carry a firearm in order to protect themselves, knowing full well that the police cannot be everywhere. In fact there was even the thinking that the citizenry may need these weapons to protect themselves from the government, should it become an oppressive force.

Noah Webster understood this. Yeah the dictionary guy. In his Examination of the Leading Principles of the Federal Constitution, 1787 “Tyranny is the exercise of some power over a man, which is not warranted by law, or necessary for the public safety their liberties, while they retain in their own hands, a power sufficient to any other power in the state.. A people can never be deprived of their liberties, while they retain in their own hands, a power sufficient to any other power in the state.” He continues, “Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom in Europe.” As you can see the founders were not all that sold on the idea of an omnipotent central government. Thomas Jefferson once said, “When the people fear the government, that’s tyranny; when the government fears the people, that’s freedom.”

For what its worth, my thoughts are that the people who would apply for the state sanctioned permits are the least to be feared. They are the law abiding, honest citizens who would uphold the law and stand for liberty.

Not banning concealed weapons limits Counties liability

That’s right. The county board of supervisors in Shawano county voted to limit the counties potential liability by NOT extending a concealed weapons ban. A previous proposal would have extended the list of locations where CCW are banned to include the Shawano Lake Pavilion, Mielke Arts Center, Crawford Center, Social Services building and Community Programs building, as well as the county fairgrounds during the fair and Shawano Speedway races. The board opted to leave the list of prohibited CCW areas to those defined in the State Law.

The decision follows advice from Corporation Counsel Tony Kordus. He informed the board what many CCW supporters have been saying. Banning the concealed weapons exposes the municipality to legal liability should someone be injured who would have been able to defend themselves were they allowed to carry their concealed weapon. By NOT banning CCW the municipality has a reasonable assumption of immunity from liability.

Thanks to Supervisor Gene Hoppe for being a voice of reason on this issue. He pointed out that the legal concealed weapon permit holders are not the ones we need to be concerned about. Thanks Gene.

Supervisor Robert Krause also noted that he feared the ban would be seen as a “Big Government” action and did not feel there was a problem needing to be addressed. Thanks as well Mr. Krause.

The attitude of Supervisor Arlyn Tober is a little troubling though. He stated ”Until someone can really tell me why they got to carry a gun to the county fair or stockcar races, I am in favor of (the original ban).” I wonder why Mr. Tober feels HE should be the one person to deny your right to carry? Can and will he guarantee you won’t need to protect yourself at the fair? Maybe he should speak to the victims of the violence at Summerfest this past year. Thugs and criminals surely wouldn’t respect his ban. Better to have it and not need it Arlyn. Some guys just don’t get it…..

Supervisor Bonnie Olson deserves praise as well. She stood up for the rights of law abiding citizens to protect themselves, stating ”We shouldn’t worry about intruders taking our weapons away if our legislators do it for us.” We appreciate you thinking of our safety Bonnie.

So there you have it. One brave board of supervisors standing up for the right of its citizens to defend themselves. It is refreshing to see a government that trusts the people. Makes it easier for the voters to trust them in return.

Illinois Sin Tax on Ammo

Il. State Rep. Kelly Cassidy has introduced legislation to place a burdensome “sin tax” on ammunition sales in that state. Once again the liberals unveil this tired tactic to attempt to infringe on legal gun owners rights. The same tactic has been tried in the past here in the land o’ cheese. That was the main reason behind the preemption law which basically neutered past governor Doyle (D) in his efforts at gun control.

Seems these crazy anti-2nd amendment libs are going to keep trying the same old work arounds to quash peoples freedoms. No surprise there though. Eventually the voters will get it and vote out these anti- constitution types and hold their representatives to their oaths. Then again, maybe not.

WI preemption law: State Statute (66.092) 1995 Wisconsin Act 75, section 2:

…no political subdivision may enact an ordinance or adopt a resolution that regulates the sale, purchase, purchase delay, transfer, ownership, use, keeping, possession, bearing, transportation, licensing, permitting, registration or taxation of any firearm or part of a firearm, including ammunition and reloader components, unless the ordinance or resolution is the same as or similar to, and no more stringent than, a state statute.

Canada ends gun registry

Bet THAT took you a bit by surprise… Public Safety Minister Vic Toews told reporters Wednesday, hours before the vote, that the government’s actions are long overdue.“It does nothing to help put an end to gun crimes, nor has it saved one Canadian life,” he said.

Don’t get too excited because it is only for their long gun registry, and it has yet to pass the senate. Litigation is sure to follow, however it does prove not all brain cells freeze out north of the border. Lets just say that its a step in the right direction and congratulate those conservative PMs for proving to have some spine. Well done youse guys, eh…

Wisconsin politicians turn to concealed weapons for protection.

Republicans in the Capitol decided last year to allow lawmakers in the Assembly and Senate to carry concealed weapons. The states republicans chose to allow them in the Assembly’s galleries but banned them in the Senate’s galleries.

Speaker Pro Tem Bill Kramer, of Waukesha, obtained permit No. 16,657 under Wisconsin’s new concealed carry law in November. He said he has carried a concealed weapon onto the floor at times.

He and other lawmakers have been carrying weapons in the chamber, as they fear the so-called toxic atmosphere in Madison these days.

“Have you been in the Capitol lately?” Kramer said. “The saying is you don’t need a gun until you need it. I hope I go to my grave having never fired at anything but a paper target.”
