The day ended badly for Vincent Lee Carson after he chose to prey upon the clerk at a Columbia,SC motel. The Orangeburg man, who was being sought in connection with an earlier armed motel robbery, attacked the female clerk in the early hours as she was preparing the guests breakfast. Armed with a knife and zip ties, the recently deceased Carson intended to rob and sexually assault the woman. She had other ideas and produced her .22 cal handgun from under her shirt where she carried it concealed. One well placed round, center of mass, stopped the brutish attacker in his tracks where police later found his corpse.
We wish the clerk well in her recovery from the attack. Thanks are in order as well. The female clerk exhibited courageous behavior in the face of her much larger attacker and chose not to become a victim again. According to reports, she had been the victim of an earlier robbery and had the “stones” to approach her employer seeking permission to arm herself. This decision may well have saved her life today.
Thanks also to her employer for allowing her to protect herself.
